From a Mother Point Of View….IMG_7678

Where do I begins with sharing how excited I am as a mother that my two teenage daughters Nicka and Kelsey decided to transition their relax hair, big chop and totally embrace their natural hair through my personal Journey.  I had no Idea that my daughters were taking mental and physical notes through my entire hair Journey, I was so  busy Inspiring so many of my social media sisters that I  was clueless the kind of positive Impact and  Inspirations  I was leaving with my daughters.  Here are a few snippets of our Natural Hair Journey’s, our goals are to continue  sharing our  Personal Unique stories  In and around the community. Leaving behind Structure on How to,  Teaching Self confidence,  and ensuring Positive Reinforcements are the Foundation to                                                                                     Embracing You Naturally.

MEET MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER KELSEY, I have been relaxing Kelsey’s hair from the early age of 5 until her last year of high school when she decided that she wanted to refrain from relaxer completely. I began to help her to transitioning her hair, with various protective styles. It was a confusing process for Kelsey, as she did not fully understand what was happening with her hair as she transition. One month after her high school graduation July 2014 she told me she was ready to “big chop” those two words were music to my ears, she was ready and so was I so I “Big chop” her hair with the help of her Aunt Jessica and Sister Nicka. If you think her transitioning  Journey was a tad bit confusing, that was only the tip of the Iceberg, Kelsey have been used to rocking her long flowing relax hair and now she was having to embrace short natural hair that didn’t seem to be growing months Into her natural Journey.  Dealing with an eighteen year old teenager just big chopping wasn’t the easiest thing for me to handle as a mother,  having to constantly remind her that her hair is gowning, Its not stunted, be patients, It was a task all by Itself. But as the months went on, and she began being more active with her own HHJ she began to notice that her hair is indeed growing,  she was beginning to fully understand that “patient” is the “key” I taught her very early Into her HHJ That there was nothing microwave about this process,  we are in It for the long haul to “Happy Healthy Hair” we are doing this “together”  and reinforce her that she Is  not “alone” I am “here” July 2015 Kelsey celebrated her 1-year big chop anniversary, honestly she was so busy with life i had to remind her. she asked me to blow out her hair and I did, she was totally and literally blown away. She did not believe or realize that all that hair was on her head of what appears to be “not much” especially when Its her wash day. Throughout her HHJ, I must say Kelsey have not only nature but she have blossom Into a mature young lady, who went from OMG mom I don’t like my short hair, why Isn’t it growing, I’ve thought of re-relaxing to Yesssssss I am Natural, Natural Natural.  Stay tune for more updates from Kelsey, she is currently enrolled In college so she is wearing more protective styles at the moment but we will be back to post updates when she Is rocking her Au Natural. #mothersDaughtersNaturals @Kelseyybriana

MEET MY ELDEST DAUGHTER NICKA, Just like her sister Kelsey I began her first relaxer process when she was 6-years old, and continued until march 2013 when she decided that would be her last application and began transitioning. Nicka unlike Kelsey really paid full attention to my personal Journey, she was curious and wanted to embrace her natural hair but was afraid to let go of her “Relax Length” I had no Idea that I was secretly Inspiring her until one day she admit to me that she has been watching me and taking mental notes and that my natural hair Is very pretty and how much she would like for me to help her transition.  Again this was music to my ears, this was the kind of music I didn’t mind hear and replaying It brought such Joy to my heart to know that both my daughters were ready to walk the natural hair Journey path.  So her transitioning Journey began, and so she was ready to “Big Chop” three months In. There was no talking her out of It she was ready, her mind was made up, we went to cvs  to purchase sheers and we began removing her protective style In preparation for her Big Chop. Twas a night to remember when i say everything and anything happen that night It almost felt like a nightmare only differences we were wide awake. nevertheless we were able to recover that morning after a quick nap, and continued with her Big Chop and dying her hair all at the same dang time, smh. I wasn’t ready ya’ll this was too much on my plate, I was stressing but I had to remain calm didn’t want her to see me In shambles, especially when this was a frightening time and experience for her. Below are a few snippets from her BC to where she is now, over the course of a year July 2015 Nicka has truly grown to Love her hair,  since her BC  she re-dyed again but  ensure that she follows a strick  HHJ regimen. Nicka believes that through her decision to embrace her natural hair she was able to Inspire a few of her very close BFF’s, she pats herself on her back and takes all the credits. She is currently rocking her DIY Marley Twist and looking forward to her next update and length check.         @ImHotterduh
